TRAVEL CONDITIONS for volunteers for all our
travel programs at Young Boys Academy, Tanzania .

 

In general:

Traveling with Young Boys Academy, Tanzania is not a tourist trip, but rather an educational trip with the clear aim of creating global citizenship. It is therefore expected that you take ownership of your stay by actively participating, getting involved and showing initiative.

Before your departure, you must attend a mandatory introductory course at Young Boys Academy, Tanzania's Danish office in Silkeborg.

You get a unique knowledge of the culture, the people and the conditions in Africa and especially East Africa.

As a volunteer, you can have apply for what you would like to work with. In the Young Boys Academy, Tanzania, we have three job profiles for volunteers:

School/values-voluntary .
Here you have to help the academy's teacher with the boys' schooling - and their personal development.

SoMe volunteer.
Here you have to help us send pictures, videos and stories home to sponsors etc. - primarily via our SoMe platforms.

Football volunteer .
Here you have to help our trainers on the training pitch - to develop the boys' skills.

At Young Boys Academy, Tanzania, we endeavor to comply with your wishes, but the role depends on current local needs, and therefore your final role is often only confirmed during your introductory course in Silkeborg before deployment.

As a volunteer, you are expected to participate in the daily work together with the local employees. The employees also expect you to work full-time during your entire stay. You are free at the weekends, but longer trips must be made after the end of your stay.

In periods you may be less busy as a volunteer. Here it is important that you get involved and take the initiative to have a good and dynamic stay. Experience shows that those who take the initiative and get involved also get the best stay and the coolest experiences. Participate and be engaged in an open and constructive way, both for your own sake and that of Young Boys Academy, Tanzania.

Expectations

Traveling with Young Boys Academy, Tanzania requires you to commit to your stay and take ownership. You do this, among other things, by having a positive attitude towards the challenges you may encounter along the way. Because it is challenging to navigate a new culture. It requires patience and readiness to adapt.

We make sure you well prepared for the new culture, but in return we expect you to comply with the laws, regulations and cultural norms that apply to Tanzania. You can prepare by reading our Duty of Care and Code of Conduct, and through this inform yourself about what your own responsibility entails.

If you qualify for a stay at Young Boys Academy, Tanzania, we will provide:

Board and lodging at Young Boys Academy, Usa River, Arusha, Tanzania
Transport to and from the Airport in Tanzania
Help for Visa as a volunteer in Tanzania
Intro course in Denmark before departure

Instructions for behavior and responsibility

You must be aware that you are coming as a guest to another country. You must respect the local culture and follow ours and our partners'
instructions. In particular, we expect you to respect cultural traditions in dress, alcohol customs and social behaviour.

As a Young Boys Academy, Tanzania traveler you will often
be perceived by the local community and the people you meet as a representative of Young Boys Academy, Tanzania. Therefore, we expect you to live up to the Young Boys Academy, Tanzania Code of Conduct (cf. section 4 below).

It is your own responsibility to prepare yourself professionally and practically in relation to the stay. We therefore expect you to be familiar with our Duty of Care (cf. section 5 below).

You are part of Young Boys Academy, Tanzania from you have
registered and during your entire stay in Tanzania, and must therefore respect the instructions that we give. Otherwise, Young Boys Academy, Tanzania reserves the right to cancel the stay without refund.


Payment

General: An overview of what your money is used for as well as the price and content of the stay can be found in the description under volunteers at 2chancer.dk

To travel with Young Boys Academy, Tanzania you must
be a member of the Young Boys Academy, Tanzania. You can sign up in connection with your registration. The price is 300 DKK. per year and you can, if you wish, unsubscribe when you are back home.

Young Boys Academy, Tanzania is a non-profit organization
and the amount for the stay as well as the fee goes to the operation of the Young Boys Academy, Tanzania.

The price and content of the stay can be found under volunteers in the FAQ.

Please note that the prices of plane tickets may vary and therefore the price is indicative. We therefore reserve the right to charge an additional fee corresponding to the difference between the price shown on the website and the current price of plane tickets.

A deposit of 5,000 DKK. is payable upon enrolment.

The remaining amount is charged via email approx. 5 weeks before departure with seven day payment deadline.


Insurance

All volunteers must be covered by travel insurance that covers expenses in the event of accident, death, treatment of illness and transport home. It is the volunteer's responsibility to ensure that the insurance has the necessary coverage.

We also recommend that you buy cancellation insurance in connection with ordering your plane tickets - then the plane tickets are covered if you still can't make it up to departure. The cancellation insurance applies from the time of purchase to the day of departure.

The insurance is also necessary in order to apply for a visa
to Tanzania.


Cancellation rules

If you are prevented from participating in registered stays, this must be notified in writing as soon as possible to Young Boys Academy, Tanzania. If you arrive late for flight departure, the journey will be canceled and there will be no refund of the journey price.

In case of cancellation, the following rules apply (per person):

If we receive the written cancellation more than 30 days before the agreed departure date, we will refund the amount paid minus 2,500 DKK. as well as any already incurred expenses for e.g. plane ticket etc.

If we receive the written cancellation less than 30 days before the agreed departure date, we will refund the amount paid minus 5,000 DKK. as well as any already incurred expenses for e.g. plane ticket etc.

If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "advises against all entry" to Tanzania, Young Boys Academy, will offer to fully refund the amount paid.

If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "advises against all unnecessary entry" Young Boys Academy, Tanzania will at any time assess the local security situation and reserves the right to cancel and refund the amount paid. If Young Boys Academy considers your stay to be safe, and your travel insurance still covers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "advises against all unnecessary entry" is not a valid reason for cancellation.


Cancellation

If Young Boys Academy, Tanzania cannot verify your
stay, you get your deposit back.

Young Boys Academy, Tanzania reserves the right to
not to create a given residence if there is no local need for a period.

Any cancellation will be notified no later than one month before departure.

The stays can be canceled by Young Boys Academy, Tanzania with reference to local conditions.

In the event that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 'advises against all entry' to the chosen destination, the stay will be cancelled.

In case of cancellation, Young Boys Academy, Tanzania is obliged to notify the volunteers immediately and, as far as possible, offer a similar stay later. If this cannot be done, a refund will be made the amount already paid (however, this does not apply to any premium for cancellation insurance, as this cover is a separate agreement). No compensation is paid.

In the event that you choose to end your stay early, you cannot get a refund for expenses that have not yet been incurred.

Appeal options
In the event that you experience deficiencies during your stay, you must immediately contact Young Boys Academy, Tanzania in Denmark, so that we can remedy the deficiencies.

Personal expenses in connection with deficiencies are only covered after prior agreement with Young Boys Academy, Tanzania in Denmark.

In the event of a wish for compensation in relation to complaint, this must be received in writing no later than 4 weeks after the end of the journey.
